This policy outlines what is and isn’t acceptable when using Nobris products and services. It applies to all users, including free and paid accounts.
1. General Principles
You agree to use Nobris only for lawful purposes consistent with its intended use as a research security screening and due diligence tool. You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
2. Permitted Uses
Nobris is designed for:
- Research security screening and due diligence for your organization
- Compliance with export control, sanctions, and research integrity requirements
- Internal risk assessment and documentation
- Academic and institutional research security program management
- Generating audit-ready compliance documentation
3. Prohibited Uses
3.1 Technical Abuse
- Automated scraping or bulk extraction of the Nobris database or underlying government data
- Circumventing rate limits or attempting to disrupt service availability
- Reverse engineering the entity resolution models, algorithms, or infrastructure
- Unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data belonging to other users
- Introducing malware, viruses, or other harmful code
3.2 Misuse of Results
- Commercial redistribution of Nobris results or underlying data without appropriate attribution and compliance with government data terms
- Presenting Nobris results as legal advice or certified compliance determinations
- Using results to discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, or other protected characteristics beyond what is required by applicable law
3.3 Harmful Conduct
- Harassment or abuse, including mass-querying unrelated entities to disrupt service
- Using Nobris to facilitate illegal activity, fraud, or sanctions evasion
- Impersonating another person, organization, or Nobris employee
4. Rate Limits
To ensure fair access, Nobris enforces rate limits:
- Free tools: Up to 100 queries per day (rolling 24-hour window)
- Paid plans: Rate limits as specified in your subscription tier
- Batch features: May have separate rate limits and require account registration
These limits may be adjusted at our discretion. If you require higher throughput, contact us about enterprise options.
5. Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in:
- Warning notification
- Temporary suspension of access
- Permanent account termination
- IP-level blocking
- Legal action where appropriate
We reserve the right to determine what constitutes a violation and to take action at our discretion. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the service or other users.
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this policy, please report it to abuse@nobris.dev. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action.
7. Changes
We may update this policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email (if registered) or on our website. Continued use of Nobris after changes constitutes acceptance.
